Events and Activities

In the first year and throughout their undergraduate careers, WIMSE society members build community through activities and events organized by our Student Activities Council: WIMSE's Student Leadership Team.

SAC is the representative and activities board for the WIMSE Society and is made up of three committees that create fun and engaging social activities, service events, and community building efforts. SAC provides an excellent opportunity to develop leadership and community organizational skills. In this capacity, creativity in designing and facilitating their own programming is strongly encouraged.

Social Committee

Creates fun events throughout the year for WIMSE's to get together, make friends and destress! Whether around campus, at the Rex, virtually on Zoom, or right inside Cawthon Hall, this committee helps WIMSE's of all class years to feel connected.

Service Committee

Coordinates our engagement in service and outreach: our favorite way to connect with each other and with our community. On campus through FSU-sponsored events: Relay for Life, The Big Event, and Garnet & Gold goes Green. Throughout the Tallahassee Community: local food banks, community gardens, STEM outreach organizations, Girl Scout troops and more.

Membership Committee

Communicates with WIMSE's past, present and future. They manage our presence on social media, facilitate interviews with WIMSE applicants, generate promotional material, keep in touch with alumnae, coordinate fundraising and much more.

WIMSE-2-WIMSE

The WIMSE-to-WIMSE (W2W) mentorship program was designed in spring 2012 for WIMSE members who wanted to connect on an individual basis with older students in their major. The W2W program matches active Society members and living-learning community (LLC) students based on their majors, intended career paths, interests, and personality. This is a great opportunity to find both a mentor and a friend who can help you grow personally and professionally.
