Women in Math, Science & Engineering: home

WIMSE

Welcome to WIMSE online! The Women in Math, Science & Engineering Program is a living-learning community housed in Cawthon Hall at FSU. WIMSE is committed the success of women in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Pretty cool, right?

What is a Living-Learning Community?

LLC's are a group of first-year students who share an academic interest (like math, science & engineering!), are housed together in a campus residence hall, and take one or more of their classes together. A special “colloquium” class is reserved just for LLC members. LLC students also participate in social and educational activities related to the interest they all share, and have the opportunity to interact with award-winning professors (and even get to know them personally!). Choosing a living-learning community can be one of the best ways to make a big university like FSU feel just like home.

The WIMSE Mission

So what are we all about, anyway? The Women in Math, Science & Engineering Program seeks to accomplish multiple important goals:

1. increase the retention of women in STEM fields by promoting a supportive environment;
2. encourage participation beyond the classroom;
3. provide increased exposure to the STEM fields;
4. teach skills necessary to be successful in future STEM careers.

Oh, and we have lots of fun too! Check out our photos page.
